About

This Official Chartered Chapter of the Universal Zulu Nation was established in November 2011 after initiation by The Original DJ Jazzy Jay.

The members of this chapter are from all throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand) and we are reaching out to build and grow with like-minded people around the country.

The Universal Zulu Nation is an organization of men, women, and youth which was founded by the Godfather of Hip Hop, Afrika Bambaataa. With hundreds of chapters around the world, it is the oldest, largest, and most respected grass roots hip hop organization. The members, who come from many different races, cultures, nationalities, countries, and religions, believe in Freedom, Justice, Peace, Unity, Love, Fun, Respect, Work, Economics, Overcoming the Negative to the Positive, Mathematics, Science, Life, Truth, Facts, Equality, Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, and Faith. Zulu Nation members discourage divisions and want to see peace and unity on Earth with all races. Without these we all face social, economic, physical, and spiritual destruction.

We, as Zulus, through Afrika Bambaataa‘s vision, use right knowledge, right wisdom, and right understanding to educate the masses about the foundation and traditions of true hip hop. In the past 35 years hip hop has been the largest influence on pop culture. Changing the way the world looks at music, fashion, art, dance, networking, even marketing and promotion; turning something that was started from almost nothing in the boroughs of New York City into a worldwide billion-dollar industry.

All of this was created and achieved through our individual innovations and talents as a hip hop community collectively. Our vision is to continue to enrich and preserve the culture of hip hop by implementing our knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to empower the youth by helping them to harness and use their talents to accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams.

Zulu Nation members are involved in positive activities that give back to the community. Hip hop music is our vehicle of expression through writing, production, promotion, marketing, publishing, performing, and televising our own music for our own people. Now is the time for us to build together as well as develop individually to address all of the ills and problems that plague our community. As we know knowledge is infinite, thus the Universal Zulu Nation‘s main goal is to teach and enlighten the youth through positive hip hop culture.
